Best tail light I have found
This is the best rear tail light I have found for bicycle commuting. This light is very bright for its small size. (You could use it as a quick light to find something you dropped on the ground) The angle of visibility for this light is truly broad and will be visible to anyone behind you whether they are directly behind you or to the right or left. Another key thing about this light is that the mount is secure and you don't lose the light. I have lost at least three tail lights when they fell off my bike while riding home in the dark. (Even if you immediately notice that the light fell off, if it is too directional it can still be difficult to find) This light has never felt lose and has never fallen off. (I have been using this for about 2 months now) The final benefit of this light is that it recharges so you don't have to mess with batteries.

Great light - especially for the $
I decided to go with the Cygolite Hotrod 50 Bike Tail Light because of reviews saying it fit aero posts. I am happy to report that this light easily fits on my Pinarello Prince aero seat post. It also fits on the seat stay, however you will have quite a bit of rubber strap left over on one side. This light is so bright I almost gave myself a seizure when turning it on. Pro Tip: Do not look at it when turning it on as it turns on to the daylight setting. I recommend this product because the bright light, great fit, and it is simple to use. Hit the one button to cycle through modes, which are listed in order on the instructions (go figure, someone gets it), and hold the one button to turn it off. If I had to pick one thing I did not like, it would be that the battery life could be longer, but it is what it is. The charging port is on the back so it needs to be removed, however in turn, you protect the port from the elements by being on the back side of the light.

Very Bright - Fits any Seat Post.
Extremely light with a powerful - very visible light. Cars typically move to the opposite lane. Charges quickly. The only light that fits my aero seat post. Easy on and off. Like all CygoLite products, excellent design and reliability. There is nothing better at this price point. I use a Dinotte 300r for my other bike. The 300r by comparison is slightly brighter and visible at a greater distance - but not by much. The Hotrod 50 is 1/6th the cost, a fraction of the weight, and it fits just about any seatpost. I like the linear concept for spreading the beam as apposed to round lights. Great product!

Up date after 2 months: Great Light works on our helmets so we added more to our front forks.
New review after 2 months: We liked the ones we added to our helmets so much we bought two more each for our front forks. These are really bright but have variable settings and the charge easily last for the 4 dark hours each weekend and recharge after than in about 15 minutes. No problem with them falling off, or needing a safety leash, as we first worried about after reading some reviews. The stretchy strap is strong and the rubber pads on the back of the light keeps them from slipping down our tapered forks even on the roughest roads and trails. The bad is that the micro charging port is covered by a tiny rubber button attached to a very thin and easily torn gasket that seals the light. We have broken one already and now just cover the port with a small piece of duct tape so no real problem. It would be nice if they also sold replacement gasket / port covers as they are easily accessed with 2 small screws. We recommend them to friends and will buy more for the rear of our bikes once our much more expensive ones die. Original Review: As a professional product designer I would have given it 5 stars if they had designed the tabs you hook the rubber band over so that there was a slot behind them for a velcro strap, or they had hole in the frame to attach a safety leash. After adding them to our helmets I want to add them facing our from our front forks so we are more visible from the side. It seem all modern forks are tapered as the go down and I'm a little worried that they will slip down and fall off so stay tuned for a update on that.

Commuter safety check passed.
Yes, it's a little crusty now from the mud. But I live in Florida, where it rains every afternoon in the summer, and I commute to work on my bike. I can attest to it being perfectly waterproof. I used the included strap to attach it over my back reflector on the back rack of my Brompton. It stays out of the way when the bike is folded when attached there. It's easy to take off and recharge. I will note that I have to take it off the bike to recharge. I get about 8 hours of blinking use between recharges. The 50 lumens is super bright, so don't turn it on in the down elevator or you will blind yourself!

super bright, effective, reliable, convenient
I have really liked how this light works. It is extremely bright! It has a nice "glowing/pulsing" mode that oscillates gently between half and full brightness, and it will run like that for six hours on a charge. At first I was concerned about the single strap design, but have since come to appreciate that more - I can fit the light on more things more easily with the single strap. You can have this single awesome light, and use it on all your bikes very easily. Very happy with it after almost a year of regular use. I'm never going back to those AA powered blinky's. Update: some taillights claim more "lumens" or brightness. Be careful to look at how that brightness is distributed. Many taillights are indeed very bright, but only in a narrow cone facing directly to the back. The CygoLite Hotrod is remarkable because it is so bright in ALL directions facing to the rear. It appears very bright even when you are looking from the side, approaching from the side of the bike.

Powerful little light.
This is a dependable and easy to use light. It’s easy to recharge and easy to mount anywhere on your bike. I feel safer knowing that drivers can see me ahead. This is my second purchase. My other one still works great after a few years.

Good quality long-lasting bike tail light
I've used the 50-lumen version of this bicycle tail light in daily commuting use for about five years, almost always in one of the flashing modes. The battery duration has been consistently good at about 2 weeks between charges depending on the volume of my commuting. This far outlasts the duration of my forward-facing bike light which usually has to be charge at least once per week, even when it was new. After five years, the battery has stopped holding charge for more than a few days, but the five-year lifetime has been good value for my money. I am re-ordering the same light now. Although I'm mainly writing this review to report on the total lifetime of the light's battery, I've also appreciated having lots of choices of where to mount the light given it's flexible strap. That means it's easy to move from bike to bike, or even to strap it to a backpack if needed. It's just as easy to remove temporarily if I'm parking my bike in a public place where I don't want to risk the light being stolen.
