I've bought Overtone from Overtone and happy to report this is the same stuff, not some shady off-brand. It seemed new, and not something that had been sitting on the shelf forever, as can happen when risking things like cosmetics or wet art supplies on Amazon. Overtone really is easy to use, they don't pay me I really think that, BUT, be mindful it is not dye. It isn't great for dark hair. The lighter your hair, the more intense it will be. Even their "for brown hair" line is only average, but, you can look on their actual website and see pretty good images of how it will work. I have found their advertising legit. My hair was bleached Targaryen White basically so it was incredibly rich and awesome. Use gloves, just so you don't dye your hands, it's not caustic or dangerous, and I recommend doing it on damp hair after a shower, don't get dressed, wait 20 or so, and hop back in for a rinseout. You just need a 20 minute activity you can do naked, a thing which will vary based on your personal preferences. I reup every 1-2 weeks, but I also find the pinks and purples wash out pleasingly, going from intense to pastel, never really looking bad, so you can go longer if you like. You don't have to rinse cold, but it can help, and you might get a bit of color on your pillow right after dying or if you go to bed with wet hair, so be mindful. Still, it usually washes out, not being so permanent or caustic. If you like intense playful color, strongly recommend just get professionally bleached then do overtone. I paid for professional pink once and it did NOT last any longer than overtone AT ALL.

Love this for refreshing my color between salon appts. Easy to apply. I only use it once every few weeks instead of daily as my split dye is too much work

first picture is today (no redyeing since day one; just using this) and second is freshly dyed a month ago i don’t usually review things, but this works so well it honestly makes me a little mad - i had to throw away a bowl of color from my initial dye that i was planning on using later. thanks to this, it hasnt faded at all. i shower and wash my hair 2-3 times a week and use this as my conditioner every wash. i dyed my hair red about a month ago, and the only difference in color is that its a little brighter, probably because i used a darker red to dye it but it has not got any less vibrant. my only complaint is that since its a really thick consistency, i’m nearing the halfway to 1/4 point in the bottle and it requires a lot of force to get it to keep coming out. but if it works, it works. i’ll try storing the bottle upside down and see if that helps. it doesn’t bleed onto clothes or anything unless my hair is damp (and even then its a faint pink splotch), so i suggest avoiding white clothes and pillowcases when youre freshly out of the shower. i have thick, fine curly hair and it hasnt changed the texture or weighed it down at all either (straightened/brushed out in pictures lol). tldr; 100% worth it

Definitely kept my color alive! I dyed my hair red using another product but used this every time I washed and it definitely helped prevent fading! I noticed when I ran out, my color faded really fast. It’s pretty of hard to get out of the bottle though. Especially after a few uses, you’ll really have to work to get it out as it’s very thick. It’s extremely staining (to be expected) so be ready with bleach for your bathroom! I never tried it on dry hair but I’m sure it would’ve been more vibrant if I had done it that way.

I have NEVER posted a negative review, but felt as if I should warn others about my experience with this product. I received it in a great timely matter, and that's the only positive comment I can come up with. There were "compostable" gloves included, which were a complete joke. They literally disintegrated when I put them on. Not a huge problem, because the color was easy to remove from my hands and didn't stain them permanently. But...THE SMELL IS SO HORRIBLE!! I'm a natural redhead, so I was under the assumption that this would create a natural shine and define my hair. NOPE! It turned my hair pink. Mega disappointed. And the smell is/was so bad that it lingered even after I used my regular shampoo and conditioner to try to get rid of it. I can't use it anymore, so I wasted too much money. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT

Honestly, I’m not convinced that this is the exact same product that’s in the overtone deep color conditioning tub. Pretty sure the tub and bottle are exactly the same. Which is cool, it’s a great product. I used this on grown out blonde hair over med brunette roots, and it covered it all, even the level 8 bits were evenly covered with a deep rich shade of brown. As it’s fading, the blondest parts have a rose gold brunette shade, and it’s honestly not taking long to come out which is why I get this product. I have major hair commitment issues so I love overtone. It is super messy to apply, you absolutely need gloves even if you use it as conditioner in the shower. Photos show before, right after, and 3 weeks after

I love this stuff. Works great and smells even better. Doesn’t leave residue or stain my shower.

So I had considerable root growth coming in and wanted to just get a quick cover up for now. This product was kind of a pain to work with ended up having to uncap the bottle as it wasn't coming out of the cap it was pretty thick. Don't know if that's due to the color red being thicker solution. Anyways it was a battle to get the product out of the bottle making the process take way longer. I saturated my hair to the best of my abilities and waited about 25 minutes I did this on clean dry hair washed my hair the night before. I will say it definitely worked and made my hair brighter and soft! Will I buy this product again I don't think so but if your looking for a quick fix without breaking the bank it's worth it.
