Introducing Particle Physics: A Graphic Guide

As an introduction to particle physics this book is great. It is a clear and consistent guide full of information that is easy to understand. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.

An entertaining and fun historical catchup on particle physics for those wanting avoid lots of field theory math and bother

It’s a well done history of particle physics, that takes you along the journey of discovery. You will learn about particle physics for sure. I really enjoyed this book.

It was amazing to have such a short review of the history of particle physics. But some references for books that would explain the experiments and help me with the mathematics would have resulted in a stellar review.

Good pictorials of all those clever guys involved in the myriad aspects of 'Quantum' - certainly adds to one's overall understanding.

I bought this book as a paper copy for someone special to me and want to let him know more about my field from non-specalist perspective. I read the book first using my prime book subscription and find it very useful for people who want to know a general overview about the field of particle physics with the historical development and the famous names that lead this field.

I read about Particle Physics in newspapers and the Scientific American in the 70s. This guide is as good intro into the efforts and progress that has been made in this field. You will also learn the names and contributions that were made by key physicists. I recommend this book to anyone looking for an introduction into Particle Physics.

Good but brief

A good introductory book on particle physics. If you enjoy reading this book you also read Introducing Quantum Theory: A Graphic Guide, which is far more interesting than this volume.

Mi è piaciuto il taglio, chiaramente introduttivo, ma rivolto a coprire l'intero campo della fisica delle particelle. Per la maggior parte dei laureati italiani il nucleo dell'atomo è semplicemente dotato di carica positive e massa, dati dai protoni e dai neutron che lo compongono. Solo I laureati in fisica sono andati oltre a guardare dentro il nucleo, alle forze che lo tengono insieme, alla enorme schiera di particelle che lo compongono. Questo libro racconta la storia del cammino umano verso questa conoscenza. Chissà che l'autore non intenda rifare questo percorso esponendo anche la teoria , presentando I vari modelli matematici senza però la preoccupazione di riportare le varie dimostrazioni .... In definitiva vorrei vedere lo spartito scritto però con il linguaggio della matematica. L'autore potrebbe partire dalla equazione che esprime il modello standard esplodendola un pò, aprendo finestre aperte sui vari termini. Se volete posso contattare Tom Whyntie ?

I have always had a fascination for particle physics as I grew up in the 50's. This book brought me up to date with this intriguing subject in a fun and easy manner. Now I need to go into it by reading more details in Scientific America.
