I love a gushy pillow ... one that allows my head to sink in, easy to manipulate and overall squishy. The previous pillow I had been using was the microball pillow. Even though this pillow was smaller than a standard pillow, I got used to it. To me, the tradeoff of comfort over size won hands down. But ... the microball pillow loses its shape. I've gone through two of them in the last year and a half. I've also started smelling a chemical smell ... real funky, especially after I washed the first one. Needless to say, I have not washed the second one for that very reason and yet, I still detect a funky smell. I found myself looking for another pillow that had the same comfort qualities and characteristics and honestly ... there is nothing else like it that I could find. I also decided that a pillow made out of natural materials was a must for me. The buckwheat pillow appeared on my search. After reading about it and the reviews, I took the plunge. I ordered the 14x20 inch pillow. Lemme tell you ... this pillow is heavy! Compared to my microball pillow, this beast outweighs it significantly! The buckwheat hulls do make a bit of noise when I shift the pillow around however, once it's set, there is no sound at all, not matter how many times I turn over at night. And ... it is not squishy AT ALL!!! I've been sleeping on it for about a week now. The first night, I slept with all of the hulls ... just the way it was shipped. I ended up ditching it and going back to my microballs. After that first night, I removed about 4 cups of the hulls. I slept better that night but there was room for improvement. The second night, I removed another 4-6 cups of hulls and ... slept amazing! As a matter of fact, I have fallen madly in love with this pillow! To my great surprise, since it does not have any of the favorable characteristics of any of my previous pillows. And yet ... my head and neck stay stabilized. I have no need to manipulate the pillow to suite my comforts. It's firm, yet supportive. My head creates a nice pocket that keeps my neck fully supported. I'm a side sleeper and never have to adjust the pillow for the exception of drawing it down closer to my shoulders so there's a nice ridge for my neck to rest on. I have found my forever pillow! I understand the more I sleep on it, the more broken down the hulls get and the more comfortable the pillow becomes. I look forward to many years with this heavyweight. The icing on the cake is, it's made out of natural materials. No allergens. No funny smells. It's a dream come true!

I have tried every pillow on the planet! None were great for long. I had a whiplash injury and subsequent neurosurgery on my neck years ago. I have struggled to find a pillow that gave me adequate neck support, and I would frequently wake up with hand numbness. After reading mixed reviews on buckwheat pillows, I decided to try one. I had nothing to lose except for a good night's sleep, which was already happening anyway. I was overjoyed to discover that this is the pillow that I have spent years looking for! This pillow weighs a lot and is very firm, which wasn't an issue for me. It doesn't put too much pressure on my ear when I lay on my side. It gives exceptional neck support which is so hard to find. The buckwheat rustling noise isn't that bad. I like that this pillow doesn't hold heat like foam pillows do. I love the fact that the hull volume is adjustable. I ordered the standard size, since I move around a lot. I am a side sleeper and I found that I would have to gather the pillow up in order to get the height that I need. I contacted the company and requested more hulls, so that I could increase the volume of my pillow. I got rapid response from customer service and they shipped me more hulls without charge. I am so happy with my pillow. I am glad that I took the chance to try something different. It isn't a cushy pillow, but is is super supportive, and it works well for me. Edit: I have found a way to make the perfect pillow even better! Add a buckwheat neck pillow to the pillowcase along with the standard lofe buckwheat pillow. This allows customized levels of support for both my head and neck. I can now have firmer neck support and softer head cushioning. It is the best of both worlds. I did have to remove hulls from both pillows in order to get the right level of support and comfort. I toss and turn a lot at night, and the neck pillow provides consistent support without the need to readjust my larger pillow. It has always been a tradeoff, having to settle for a firmer pillow in order to have the neck support that I require. Now I can have it all!

The pillow is comfortable to sleep on and is adjustable as you can reduce the amount of fill yourself. The pillow comes with care instructions and an offer to send for a free pillow case which I did. The seller was very responsive and prompt in sending the free case upon request. Customer service and communication is excellent. Highly recommended.
