Works a treat !
I finally took the plunge to buy one. Replaced a Spin Clean - does as it says put the Perspex disk on and the record! Clamp and apply the solution - wait a few minutes and vacuum off! Takes more than a few spins each way however I really wet my records! Works on new also! For me it’s worth every penny- it removes so much - except imperfections and scratches- the sound quality improved no end and the noise floor lowered! The vacuum suction is very powerful! And clean again if you need to!

Pro-Ject VC-E
A tremendous bit of kit, I had considered going for cheaper methods like a microfiber cloth and spray or the soap bath style of record cleaning and I was interested in the Pro-Ject record cleaning machines. I have the smaller version and to be honest I dont think for the extra £100 there is much need for the larger one for my needs. I am delighted with it, very well built, it comes supplied with their own cleaning solution and a goat hair brush. The motor goes both ways and the suction on the vacuum arm is very strong and a record is totally dry after a couple of revolutions. The noise is tolerable, it is a vacuum after all so it would be quite impossible to have no noise at all. I have been cleaning a batch of records that I am going to be listening to before use so I dont have the noise of the machine when I am listening to records. I got all of my dads records from the 60 and 70's so all original presses and it is cleaning them up like they are brand new, there is not a pop or click to be heard playing it on my Rega Planer 8 with Aphetta 2 cartridge. When your stylus is 1K to renew and using original presses I felt that the £299 for the cleaner is a worthwhile investment to keep the records in good condition for as long as possible.

Does the job! (but who placed the vent where it is?)
First things first - this is probably the best all in one record cleaner (motor and vacuum and all) at this price point, and it’s probably all the record cleaning machine you ever need. I went for this smaller version just because it fits neatly into an IKEA box for storage and I don’t have huge amounts of extra space. The one flaw is the place of the air vent from the vacuum, it blows hot/humid air straight onto the underside of the record! The “optional” plastic disc they provide is really a “must-use” item if you clean more than one record in one session. This extra step creates a little more hassle, so things don’t run as easily as with more expensive gear. It’ll still get those records mighty clean though. Probably the only machine you’ll ever need to buy unless you’re a professional record dealer. Worth having, and sooo much easier than those Spin-Clean or Knosti things.

Little machine, big on time saving
Great little machine to clean your vinyl. It really does do a great job of making your vinyl sound better if they are dirty and if like me you have quite a few vinyl then it saves you bags of time. The suction to dry them if very powerful and LOUD! I was surprised in how small the machine is. If you use the tried and tested kallax system to hold your vinyl then it slots in there very easily. There is a slight design floor in that the exhaust is under the actual record you are cleaning so sends fumes on the underside which in turns leaves marks. Luckily they provide you with a plastic plate that the record sits on so that now protects your vinyl. I would recommend using this if you are cleaning 2 or more at a time. It won’t do miracles in making heavily scratches wax suddenly sound amazing but if your records are just plain old dirty then it does perform magic 👍

Faulty unit
I’ve wanted one of these for years. Finally, the price was right but the unit I was sent was faulty. It constantly tripped the power whenever I turned the vacuum on. On the odd occasion it did work, bristles were falling out of the supplied bush and the velvet on the vacuum is so thin I was concerned the suction would pull through to the metal and scratch the disc. All you’re really buying here (if it works) is a vacuum. The little turntable helps you brush the liquid into the grooves and it’s this action that cleans the disc. You could do it whilst holding it or use a perfectly serviceable Spinomatic. It just saves you having to wait for them to dry before you put them away. Pretty disappointed to be honest

Keeps vinyl sounding pristine
Am slowly rebuilding my record collection. Due to the fact that a lot of the artists I used to like don't qualify for swish reissues, and the fact that I object to the price tag attached to 180g vinyl re-releases, I often hit the 2nd hand market for my records. These older records, even when only having the lightest of wear have often accumulated years (or decades) of dirt. This means pops, hisses and crackles on playback. Traditional cloths and sprays just don't seem to effectively remove this grime. I have been amazed at how good this product is at restoring the sound of my old records. Hisses, pops and crackles have been largely completely eliminated in records nearing 50 years old! Using the pro-ject is dead easy, only taking a couple of minutes to thoroughly clean a record. You need to mix the cleaning fluid supplied with distilled water (at a ratio of anywhere between 1:10 to 1:20), then apply about 6-8ml of that solution to the surface of the record. Whilst the record spins, use the supplied goats hair brush to gently work the solution into the record's grooves. Do this clockwise first for a few rotations, then anti clockwise. Then I tend to let the record rest for about a minute, so that the solution has time to do it's stuff. After that, get the record spinning again and use the vacuum arm to suck away all the dirt and solution. The vacuum is really powerful (and quite noisy), but I guess this is what's needed to get the dirt out of those grooves. The record is normally bone dry a few seconds later and ready to play. It won't compensate for scratches, of course, but it's astonishing how much dirt it removes. Vinyl looks brand new and shiny after use. The transformation is unbelievable, and really needs to be heard to be believed. It's not an impulse buy, and it's not cheap, but as a way of preserving and protecting your record collection, it's worth it.
