Edlund 4412HDL 44 Series 12" Heavy-Duty Scallop Utility Tongs

This is a very nice product! It's heavy-duty, but not something you'd use to change a truck tire. It works smoothly, does not require an excessive amount of pressure to close, and the tips meet evenly. You can open it one-handedly, and close it the same, but you kind of need something to catch the release tab on to pull it out. Don't think the latter would come up much though. Usually, I wait a bit to review something, but I did have a chance to use this today and was impressed. Mind you it was a limited workout involving some bacon strips, but it functioned flawlessly! One cool thing I discovered was that in the locked/closed position, the jaws were open wide enough to handle bacon! Most excellent! One oddity though: It says "Elund" in the description and on my order, but the tongs have "SYSCO" stamped on them along with a bunch of other information, like "stainless", "heavy duty", the part number, the patent number, "locking tongs" (in case you couldn't figure out what they were), and "Made in USA"! Not complaining, they could say "Purple Pirate" on them and I'd still be happy. Great product! Glad I bought it.

These are hands down the best cooking tongs. As a former chef I always found consumer tongs to be absolute crap. Let alone are these strong enough to last tossing salads / grabbing neat on the grill. These things are strong enough to grip whole sheet pans or even cast iron pans. The beauty of these is when you shut them the ends are flush with one another so they are made to actually grab things. I had one, bought another, and now have 5. I use them so often I got sick of finding them dirty in the dish washer lol. So yes they are dish washer safe. The original I bought almost 8 years ago. Still going strong and the latest 3 I bought are just as good. So if you are looking for good tongs, believe me these are it. You will never buy another pair... Unless you are like me and need one for almost every day of the week.

I bought one years ago and it was perfect, so I ordered another. This last one the metal was rough at the tip and the closing mechanism was difficult to use. I hope they get quality control under control.

These locking Edlund tongs are truly heavy duty. They are made in USA, solidly made to last years. We bought the 12 inch tongs to replace our 25-year old Edlund tongs, because the locking mechanism finally broke off the old one after all these years. Our original Edlund was a wedding gift, and it has lasted through countless meals on the grill and stovetop. The tongs have a solid "clang" and they hold food without slipping. They are made with stainless steel and we have had no rusting, even in the hinge, after all these years. (Note: we always hand-wash our tongs.) Our previous tongs still work great, but they take up a lot of space in the kitchen without the lock to hold them closed, so we will move the old one to our travel trailer. The 12" tongs feel like just the right length and weight for our use. I hope to get at least another 25 years from this one, but if the lock ever wears out, I will be sure to replace it with another heavy duty Edlund.

These are BY FARRRRR the best tongs I have ever used. I can tell they are going to last a long, long time. Very sensitive touch and great control with these. I feel like I got amazing value for my money.

These are my sturdy go-to cooking and serving tools. I have three, and use them past daily.

Overall, this is a really good sturdy product for a home cook. Good ergonomics, the correct weight, versatile and well-designed. Because of some deep channeling on the inside of the handle it’s a little bit difficult to clean but not so much that you should be deterred from buying it. The locking mechanism is nothing special but who cares as long as it remains durable. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the product and use it regularly as a “go to” tool

Not as described, are heavy duty but locking mechanism inhibits use of them . Making them useless. Not Edlund brand .

Disappointed, these are awkward, hard to release the tongs, such a tiny clip just doesn't do the trick when the release is so sticky
