I have some soaking in good quality Svedka vodka which is very similar to Grey Goose but less expensive. So, about five ounces vodka in smaller glass jar and I added 7 of the beans split down the middle. You really only need one bean per ounce of vodka, but I want a really rich Tahitian vanilla. Every few days I give the bottle a few shakes to activate more release of the bean into the solution. It has been only about 3 weeks and already the color is darkly vanilla brown, and the fragrance is nice. Typically takes a few months to mature, but I added a couple extra beans, so it is maturing faster. Should be perfect for Christmas baking. I also did an experiment using a fresh bottle of Nielsen Massey pure vanilla extract. I added one of the Tahitian vanilla beans, again split lengthwise down the middle, to the bottle of the Nielsen's...and it really improves the Nielsen's; within just a few weeks the fragrance is beautiful. Made Caramel Custard using it and, Oh my, really delicious! Very happy with these Tahitian Vanilla beans, and the price is excellent! Review: Came Dried out and Stale - These arrived vacuum sealed but every bean in the pack was so dried out and stale that they splintered apart into the dust while being split open. They were not useable for the purpose as the entire bean was dried out. The residual smell was good so if fresh, might be a good item. However the entire pack sent was extremely stale.

Terrible quality
Terrible quality. Arrived completely dried out and hard as a rock. Two out of the three beans were broken. Seeds were like sawdust. Would never buy again.

Well packaged!
I received this order on time and in perfect condition. I love that they vacuum seal the vanilla beans to keep them as fresh as the first day they were packaged!

Great flavor
It came in a vacuum sealed pouch. I used the vanilla beans to make ice cream and cheesecake, both had good flavor!

1st Time Vanilla Bean Buyer...
Edit:>>Well, my review did NOT get posted for some reason, so I'll ADD TO IT. **Read the 1-star comments. Apparently, I'm with the ""small, very hard bean"" Group. LOL, that sounds bad. How can I rephrase that?? LOL No time... I'll stick with my 3-star rating for now, but you may want to proceed with caution ordering from Cook's. I like that I can order only 10 beans at a time. But if the quality is bad next time, I'll have to find a different vendor. Original review: This may not be a fair review, but my first impression of Cook's "GOURMET TAHITIAN" Grade A Vanilla Beans is disappointing. It could be I should have used Madagascar Beans. I just wanted good-quality beans. The beans I received looked small and are hard and dry. But it could be how it's supposed to be. The expiration date on the package is 12-01-2026 Now, I've only seen a vanilla bean once or twice in my lifetime, but NEVER even held one or looked at one close. But my memory is they were much bigger, and the pictures on recipe websites make them look soo good. Now I realize it may be due to -I bought the wrong type of Vanilla Bean. IDK This has been an expensive mistake. I will use a different company the next time to compare those beans with these, but still... this won't be fair either because I will be buying Madagascar Beans next time. What a failure this has been. LOL!!! Regardless, my feeling is 1 star, but I gave 3 stars just because **I just don't know!!! lol! They could be a 5-star company, but it'll be about the end of the year 2025 before I will ever know. AHHHHH LOL... It's all good. Life lesson learned. Good luck and best wishes to anyone reading this! Afterthought: WHO KNOWS, my Vanilla might actually be good in three months.
